THM precursor
Natural, organic compounds found in all surface and groundwaters, which may react with halogens (such as chlorine) to form trihalomethanes (THMs); they must be present in order for THMs to form.
two-way cleanout
An opening in pipes designed for rodding or working a snake into the pipe in either direction. Two-way cleanouts are most often found in building lateral pipes at or near a property line.
packer
See chemical grouting.
buffer
A solution or liquid whose chemical makeup neutralizes acids or bases, thereby maintaining a relatively constant pH.
