Hydrologic Analysis Tool

The OWP Hydrologic Analysis Tool (HAT) standardizes calculations for event-based stormwater monitoring. It was created to prepare hydrographs for stormwater-related studies conducted by the Office of Water Programs (OWP) at California State University, Sacramento. Starting with version 2.0, HAT is being made freely available to the public for use with required NPDES Permit monitoring and stormwater studies.

HAT version 2.0 was developed as an add-in for Excel 2010, so Excel 2010 or newer must be installed on the user’s computer before installing the Tool. Whenever possible, calculations are done within the Excel worksheets created by the Tool so the methodologies are transparent and can be easily reviewed. Although macros must be enabled in order for the HAT add-in to work properly, no macros are associated with the individual worksheets. This allows the worksheets to be shared between users without a security risk or the need to have HAT installed to view the results. Users without HAT installed may open, edit (where appropriate), and save worksheets created with HAT.
