float line
A length of rope or heavy twine attached to a float, plastic jug, kite, or parachute to be carried by the flow in a sewer from one manhole to the next. This is called stringing the line and is used for pulling through winch cables, such as for bucket machine work (cleaning sewers) or closed-circuit television work.
