noncompatible pollutants
Those pollutants that are normally not removed by the POTW treatment system. These pollutants may be a toxic waste and may pass through the POTW untreated or interfere with the treatment system. Examples of noncompatible pollutants include heavy metals, such as copper, nickel, lead, and zinc; organics, such as methylene chloride, 1,1,1-trichloroethylene, methyl ethyl ketone, acetone, and gasoline; or sludges containing toxic organics or metals.
