The ability to identify problem areas before breakdowns or blockage of flow occurs. These maintenance activities establish baseline performance data, monitor performance criteria over a period of time, and observe changes in performance so that failure can be predicted and maintenance can be performed on a planned, scheduled basis. Predictive maintenance is the end product of effective preventive maintenance.
