safety data sheet (SDS)

This component of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals and OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard provides comprehensive information about a substance or mixture for use in workplace chemical management, including hazards to people and the environment and safety precautions. The SDS is normally product related and not specific to the workplace. Employers can use SDS information to develop site-specific training programs and procedures for worker protection and environmental compliance.
