The reduced state of hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺). Trivalent chromium (Cr³⁺) is significantly less toxic than hexavalent chromium and can be removed from metal wastestreams by hydroxide precipitation. Also see chrome plate, chromium, and hexavalent chromium.
